Industrial Painting Brightens A Plant More Cheaply Than Lighting
The most common reason a Woodstock plant asks us about industrial painting is that the building is dark, and paint is usually the cheapest fix on the table.
Older industrial buildings around Woodstock and Ingersoll went up with dark steel and unfinished block, and they swallow a great deal of the light put into them. Industrial painting of the deck, the steel and the upper walls in a high reflectance finish lifts the light level on the floor substantially without a single new fixture. It is generally better value than a lighting upgrade, and the two together are better still.
Industrial Painting On Steel Lives Or Dies On Preparation
Industrial painting on structural steel lasts exactly as long as the preparation beneath it, which is the same rule the floor follows.
Loose rust, mill scale and old failing coatings come off mechanically before any industrial painting begins. Where the steel is sound, a compatible primer goes down first with the finish coat over it. Where corrosion has started, it is taken back to sound metal rather than painted over, because industrial painting applied to rust is only ever as well attached as the rust underneath.
Overhead industrial painting in a working building turns out to be a masking job every bit as much as an industrial painting one. Production lines, racking, electrical panels and finished product all have to be protected properly, and that is a large part of what an overhead scope actually covers.
